In de zomer van 2024 toerden Zarek Silberschmidt, Ronald Kamphuis en Melvin Könings een week door Nederland, toen onder de noemer “Zarek Silberschmidt Trio”.

Deze  zomer komt Zarek terug, en neemt hij ster violiste Sophie Lüssi mee als gastsolist!


Sophie Lüssi is een Zwitsers-Argentijnse violiste en componiste. Ze studeerde jazzviool in Zürich en compositie in Buenos Aires, waar ze van 2004 tot 2021 woonde. Ze speelde o.a. in het Filharmonisch Orkest van het Teatro Colón en is actief in verschillende jazz- en tangogroepen, waaronder “Swing de Paris” en het “Leonardo Ferreyra Tango String Quartet”. Sophie richtte diverse ensembles op rond haar eigen composities en geeft jazzworkshops voor strijkers in Argentinië, Zwitserland en direct na dit concert bij het Grappelli-Django Camp in Biezenmortel, Europa’s grootste Gypsyjazz workshop event.

Zarek Silberschmidt is een uiterst veelzijdige gitarist uit Basel. Hij beweegt zich soepel tussen fingerstyle, gypsy jazz, dixieland en traditionele jazz. Zijn spel is expressief, creatief en persoonlijk. Oorspronkelijk uit Australië, woont hij sinds 2016 in Zwitserland. Zarek is actief als solist, in ensembles, studio’s en in muziekeducatie. Zijn optredens combineert hij met anekdotes die zijn muzikale keuzes tot de verbeelding doen spreken.

Ronald Kamphuis studeerde in 2006 af aan het conservatorium in Groningen. Na een achtergrond als elektrisch gitarist specialiseerde hij zich steeds verder in de akoestische gypsy jazz. In recente jaren stond hij op het podium met o.a. Stochelo Rosenberg en Mozes Rosenberg. Met Mozes ontwikkelt hij sinds 2025 de online lesmethode “Mozes Rosenberg Method”. Daarnaast geeft hij zelf les en volgt lessen en masterclasses bij de grote namen in het genre.

Melvin Könings is contrabassist met meer dan 20 jaar ervaring. Hij volgde een jazzopleiding bij de DJAM in Amsterdam en is actief in diverse formaties. Hij is voorzitter van Stichting Hot Club de France en initiatiefnemer van de muziektheatershow Django à Paris. Samen met gitarist Lollo Meijer stond hij op het beroemde Django Reinhardt Festival in Fontainebleau.

Sophie Lüssi is a Swiss-Argentine violinist and composer. She studied jazz violin in Zurich and composition in Buenos Aires, where she lived from 2004 to 2021. She performed with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Teatro Colón and is active in various jazz and tango groups, including Swing de Paris and the Leonardo Ferreyra Tango String Quartet. Sophie has founded several ensembles focused on her own compositions and teaches jazz workshops for string players in Argentina, Switzerland, and—right after this concert—at the Grappelli-Django Camp in Biezenmortel, Europe’s largest Gypsy Jazz workshop event.
